What is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio Taping is a technique used by osteopaths, physiotherapists, high performance athletes and even some vets, to alleviate pain and speed up the healing process.

The specialist tape doesn’t restrict movement at all, rather it encourages the body’s lymphatic system to work more efficiently at healing the affected area.

The tape is

  • 100% made from a gentle cotton fiber strip
  • 100% medical grade acrylic adhesive
  • 100% latex-free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Water-resistant
  • Does not limit range of motion
  • Multiple day wear time.
  • Tension on tape has the ability to relax or stimulate muscles

Who is Kinesio Taping suitable for?

Because this is such a gentle but effective treatment it is suitable for all ages. Including children and geriatrics. It works for very active people and for those who have restricted mobility.

What conditions can be treated by Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio Taping is often used in conjunction with other treatments such as osteopathy and dry needling but it can be used as a stand-alone.

Common conditions helped by kinesio taping include (but are not limited to)

  • Sports injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Neuromuscular conditions
  • Rehabilitation following surgery or accident
  • Injury prevention

What happens during a treatment?

All treatments at Castle Osteopaths are bespoke to the individual patient. Your practitioner will thoroughly evaluate your condition by listening to you, assessing your range of movement and understanding where and how strong your pain is. He or she will then explain their diagnosis and use their training and experience to offer the best possible treatment – or combination of treatments for you.

At the end of the session you will be advised on what further treatments (if any) are recommended and how you can help your body to heal between appointments.
